(FAQs)
- Is this scholarship really free? Yes, absolutely. There’s no registration or processing fee to apply for the SBI Asha Scholarship. If any website or individual asks for money, it’s a fraud.
- Can a student apply in two categories? Generally, students are required to apply in the category corresponding to their current education level. For example, if you are currently in UG, you would apply in the Undergraduate category, not the School category.
- What if I don’t have a scorecard? JEE Advanced, CAT, and NEET scorecards are mandatory for IIT, IIM, and Medical categories. Without a scorecard, you won’t be able to apply for that category. For other categories (School, UG, and PG), the eligibility criteria for income and marks are met only through a marksheet.
- When does the scholarship money arrive? After the application is approved and all documents are verified, the funds are transferred directly to your bank account. The exact time is announced on the official website, so check the status on the portal regularly.
- Do I have to reapply every year? Many scholarship schemes offer renewal options, meaning you can continue the scholarship the following year if you meet the requirements. To learn the exact process, read the renewal information on the official website or portal.
- Will this scholarship prevent me from applying for other scholarships? Each scholarship scheme typically has its own requirements. Some scholarships stipulate that you cannot receive two scholarships at the same time. Therefore, if you are already receiving other government or private scholarships, be sure to read the official rules to avoid confusion later.
- What does PwBD mean? PwBD stands for “Persons with Benchmark Disabilities,” meaning students with disabilities. Students in this category are given a special relaxation (60%) in the marks requirement to ensure they have an equal opportunity.
Things to keep in mind while filling the application
Many students make small mistakes while filling out the form, which can lead to their application being rejected. Therefore, pay special attention to the following points:
- Fill in the form with the same name and details as those mentioned in your official documents (marksheet, Aadhar card). Make sure there are no spelling mistakes.
- While filling the bank account details, double check the account number and IFSC code, because the money will come here.
- The income certificate should not be too old, keep it updated.
- While uploading documents, keep the file size and format (like PDF or JPEG) as per the requirement of the website.
- Before submitting the form, please check the “Preview” so that no mistake is left.
- Apply before the last date, as there may be problems due to heavy traffic on the server on the last day.
